7 Day Retreats
(8 nights)

Fully immerse yourself

Day 1 Arrival; collection from ferry or airport terminal and settle into accomodation

Day 2;

Learn how we set up the loom to weave a new tweed. Discuss how to design a tweed and the colour selection. Watch while we wind the warping frame and learn how to make the all important cross. Learn how to chain off and have a go at creating the chain.

Day 3;

 Wind the new warp onto the loom and then learn how to tie-in. With 696 knots there's plenty of practice! Start learning how to weave depending on how long the tying-in takes

Day 4;

Take turns weaving on the Hattersley loom and spend some time with the Glimakra loom, discuss how we set it up, then try out weaving. Group can be split between the looms

Day 5; Excursion day! Tailored to where the guests want to visit or I can suggest a tour based on interests. You could visit other weavers, the Harris Gin Distillery, Callanish Stones etc.
